I’m an aspiring wildlife and nature photographer, living on the east coast of Canada. Near Halifax, Nova Scotia to be a little more precise. I never went to school for photography, I actually went to school to be an automotive service technician. My photography journey truly started a few years ago, even though it wasn’t overly unusual for me to fool around with a camera growing up. The difference this time being that I had something I wanted to capture, a memory to hold onto, in the proposal to my now wife.

It wasn’t a matter of just picking up a camera and taking the shot, I wanted to not only capture the memory but I wanted to do the memory justice and capture it well. This meant going out and practicing as well as doing research to learn. We would go out on walks and find subjects to shoot, sometimes it was people, landscapes, vehicles, animals, etc. I would spend hours researching the internet and Youtube to understand some of the basics. Over time some of the subjects started to drop off, I spent enough time with vehicles at work so more time with them was uninteresting. I did family photoshoots but as an introvert people really aren’t one of my strong suits, but I’ve always enjoyed spending time with animals so it seems natural now that nature and wildlife would be my subjects of choice.

Nowadays I’m drawn to the special moments in nature — the ones that show an animal’s personality, behavior, or connection to its environment. The sunrises, sunsets and views people pass by every day of their busy lives without getting many chances to truly appreciate them. I try my best to create images that reflect what it’s really like to be out there, while encouraging a deeper appreciation for wildlife, the places they call home and moments that are typically only witnessed for a split second before its gone.
